Seve Ballesteros dies: golf legend loses long fight with cancer aged 54

The Spanish golfer Seve Ballesteros has died following a long battle with cancer after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2008.

Ballesteros, 54, a five-times major winner, had been recuperating at his home in northern Spain after four operations on the tumour and a course of chemotherapy.

A statement on the Spanish golfer’s website, seveballesteros.comread: “Today, at 2.10 a.m. Spanish time, Seve Ballesteros passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Pedreña.

“The Ballesteros family is very grateful for all the support and gestures of love that have been received since Seve was diagnosed with a brain tumour on 5th October 2008 at Madrid Hospital la Paz.

“At this time the family asks for respect and privacy at such a painful time. Thank you very much.”

Regarded by many as golf’s greatest shot-maker, Ballesteros won 87 titles worldwide, 50 of them on the European Tour.

A winner of three British Opens and two Masters titles, he also helped revive Europe’s fortunes in the biennial Ryder Cup team competition.

European Tour chief executive George O’Grady said: “This is such a very sad day for all who love golf.

“Seve’s unique legacy must be the inspiration he has given to so many to watch, support, and play golf, and finally to fight a cruel illness with equal flair, passion, and fierce determination.

“We have all been so blessed to live in his era. He was the inspiration behind The European Tour.”

On Friday the world of golf held its breath after Ballesteros’s family reported a “severe deterioration” in his neurological condition.

At the Spanish Open in Barcelona fellow Spaniards José-María Olazabal and Miguel Angel Jiménez played together in sombre mood. Twenty-four hours earlier, Olazabal, who last visited the wheelchair-bound Ballesteros a fortnight ago, learnt from Ballesteros’s daughter, Carmen, that his mentor’s condition had taken a grave turn. The European Tour press officer in Barcelona reported that Olazabal and Jiménez were in tears after completing yesterday’s round.

Ballesteros had been battling brain cancer since collapsing at the airport in Madrid in October 2008. He underwent four operations to remove a brain tumour and was in hospital for two months. Though Ballesteros’s health improved in 2009 as a result of chemotherapy, his treatment was not a cure, only a means to prolong life.

Ballesteros had hoped to be well enough to contest the four-hole Champions Trophy at the Open at St Andrews last year but was unable to travel. When he failed to attend a charity dinner in London in honour of his Seve Ballesteros Foundation towards the end of last year, concern over his wellbeing increased.

The emergence of Ballesteros in the Seventies lifted golf to an unprecedented level of popularity in his country and across Europe, sowing the seeds for an unrecognisable expansion of the European Tour. Ballesteros won an incredible 50 times on the European Tour, a record that might never been breached.

His performance at Birkdale in the 1976 Open Championship tying for second with Jack Nicklaus behind winner Johnny Miller while only 19, alerted the world to his genius.

Three years later he won his first major, the Open at Royal Lytham, carding a birdie at the 16th after driving into a car park. Later that year he made his debut in the Ryder Cup, the central figure in the first European selection.

On his appointment as Ryder Cup captain this year Olazabal said his dearest wish was that Ballesteros would accompany the European team in defence of the trophy in Chicago next year. In 15 games together Ballesteros and Olazabal lost only twice. At Celtic Manor last October Ballesteros communicated by phone while his picture hung on the wall in Europe’s dressing room.

Vitamin C – Cure Colds to Cancer

Vitamin C from citrus was introduced a couple of centuries ago as a cure for scurvy rampant among British mariners. But just what is scurvy? Scurvy is actually defined as a deficiency of vitamin C. Its myriad manifestations appear today. It appears that scurvy was not a particular disease, but a condition that led to other diseases.

The difference today is there are many other new names assigned to diseases that are often related to scurvy. This benefits Big Pharma`s bottom line for creating new expensive pharmaceuticals. It`s no surprise that inexpensive Vitamin C`s ability to safely cure maladies from colds to cancer is marginalized by the Medical Mafia.

Some Scurvy Symptoms

Some of the many scurvy symptoms include: Exhaustion, lethargy, sunken eyes, pale complexion, anemia, depression, and weakness. The afflicted person may experience joint and muscle pain, headaches, and nausea as well as fainting or dizziness.

Lung and kidney disease may result from scurvy conditions. Bruising occurs easily, and wounds heal slowly. Internal tissues may bleed as capillaries weaken. Ultimately, jaundice and water retention may occur with decreased urination.

Do any of those symptoms remind you of any other maladies or diseases by a different name? Yet IV mega-dose vitamin C therapy starting at 15 grams is rarely utilized for these symptoms.

Vitamin C Therapy

According to orthomolecular physician Ronald Hunninghake, MD, cancer victims are vitamin C deficient. In other words, they have scurvy. He has worked with orthomolecular cancer pioneer Dr. Hugh Riordan, MD, for over two decades. Their work has been a continuation of Dr. Linus Pauling`s insights into vitamin C for preventing and curing infectious diseases and cancer.

Success with cancer patients using Dr. Riordan`s protocol is not widely publicized. These and other orthomolecular physicians, who rely solely on vitamin and mineral supplementation for curing patients, want to avoid the flack from the medical establishment that exploded around Linus Pauling`s vitamin C revelations years ago.

Besides claiming that vitamin C could cure cancer, Linus Pauling also ruffled the cancer industry`s feathers when he publicly proclaimed that “the war on cancer is largely a fraud”. As the saying goes, you don`t draw flack until you`re over the target!

So perhaps Dr. Hunninghake is a bit guarded when he says mega-dosing vitamin C is a great adjunct for other cancer therapies. Cancer has been cured with mostly IV mega-dose vitamin C therapy during recent decades. Instead, Hunninghake cites the fact that cancer patients are relieved of their scurvy from IV mega-dose vitamin C, thus allowing them to feel better and endure the side effects of conventional cancer protocols.

Despite Hunninhake`s protective diplomacy, Dr. Riordon has demonstrated that Vitamin C in large doses is selectively cytotoxic to cancer cells. When the dosage is high enough, vitamin C shifts from anti-oxidant to oxidant. Normally anaerobic cancer cells perish when exposed to oxygen.

Though largely ignored by mainstream medicine`s blind allegiance to Big Pharma, Vitamin C mega-dosing has proven extremely effective against many infectious diseases. Pathogens are also anaerobic.

Occasional Confirmations from Mainstream Medicine

Perhaps mainstream medicine is beginning to catch on. Dr. Karel Tyml and his colleagues at The University of Western Ontario have discovered that vitamin C can reverse sepsis, a potentially fatal disease with symptoms resembling – scurvy!

Dogs normally produce their own vitamin C. However, our canine companions don’t have enough C to control distemper, which is considered incurable. But mega-dose C has cured distemper and kept dogs from dying or being euthanized.

Increase your risk
of pancreatic cancer by 87%
by drinking this…

Pancreatic cancer is still one of the hardest cancers to cure. Very few doctors know what it takes to battle this disease. So it’s very important to prevent it. And now it looks like there’s a very easy way to do just that.

A new study out of Singapore found that a common beverage increases your risk of pancreatic cancer by 87%. That’s an astounding increase in risk. It means avoiding this one beverage will go a long way toward avoiding this killer disease.

During just one 10-minute shower, your body can absorb more chlorine than if you drank EIGHT GLASSES of tap water.

The beverage? It’s the same one that causes osteoporosis, heart disease, immune deficiency, and diabetes. It’s sugar-laden soft drinks.

These researchers tracked 60,524 participants over 14 years. They found that those who consumed two or more soft drinks a week increased their risk of pancreatic cancer by 87%. Sugar may be to blame. It increases insulin, which fans the flames of cancer.

However, it’s also possible that those who drink a lot of soft drinks also have other aspects of a deficient diet. Nevertheless, I continue to push for zero tolerance with soft drinks. When I see Coca Cola coming out of a mountain spring, I’ll drink it.

Terri and I recently visited the Santa Cruz amusement park. They had a special for unlimited rides for one price. But to get the special deal, you had to present a Pepsi can at the ticket booth. We did, two in fact, one for each of us. Much to the surprise of the ticket agent, both cans were unopened.

Stay away from soft drinks. They’re great for the taste buds — but terrible for your health.

Yours for better health and medical freedom,

A good woman who had to endure two tragedies, the death of her teenage son and her politician husband’s infidelity (and this during the time when her cancer had returned). Many describe her as a very classy lady with tremendous resilience. Sadly, she believed too much in Western cancer treatments, including the ‘benefit’ of mammograms. After many rounds of chemo, the cancer not only returned, but had spread to her bones. And what did her doctors recommend? More chemo.

An interesting read HERE.

“I had no alternative but to die or to try to find a cure for myself. I am a scientist –  surely there was a rational explanation for this cruel illness that affects one in 12 women in the UK?

I had suffered the loss of one breast, and undergone radiotherapy. I was now receiving painful chemotherapy, and had been seen by some of the country’s most eminent specialists. But, deep down, I felt certain I was facing death.

I had a loving husband, a beautiful home and two young children to care for.  I desperately wanted to live. Fortunately, this desire drove me to unearth the facts, some of which were known only to a handful of scientists at the time.

Anyone who has come into contact with breast cancer will know that certain risk factors –  such as increasing age, early onset of womanhood, late onset of menopause and a family history of breast cancer –  are completely out of our control. But there are many risk factors, which we can control easily. These ‘controllable’ risk factors readily translate into simple changes that we can all make in our day-to-day lives to help prevent or treat breast cancer. My message is that even advanced breast cancer can be overcome because I have done it.”

And if you have a microwave oven in the house, read THIS.

Expensive, but I have been hearing extremely positive things about this porcupine cure.
